Railway fastening system components
Railway fasteners have their characteristics, and each component has strict standard regulations to ensure the fastening effect. The following is an introduction to the components of the fastening system.
- Railway clip
Railroad clips are used with railway sleepers to secure rails on both sides. The spring bar is usually made of forged spring steel and manufactured using hot forging technology. Forged rail fasteners are considered superior to other metal-forming processes due to their most uniform microstructure.

- Railroad Spike
Railroad spike, also known as railway road spike. Road spikes are used to maintain railway gauges between railways and also to secure rails to railway sleepers. Road spikes come in various shapes and serve different purposes.
According to the requirements, the material of the railroad spike can be carbon steel or stainless steel, and the surface of the road stud can be smooth, black, hot-dip galvanized zinc, etc. Among various railroad spikes, dog spikes, and railroad spikes are the most common types.
- Railway bolts
Railway bolts, also known as rail bolts, are used to secure the two ends of a rail together at the joint. The size of the railway bolts varies with the requirements of the railway section. The appropriate diameter and length of railway bolts can be determined by checking the applicable railway standards.
There are various types of railway bolts, including round-headed oval neck railway bolts, diamond neck railway bolts, NF F50-008 railway bolts, fishtail bolts, Russian standard railway bolts, Russian clip bolts, Russian specific clipping bolts, insertion bolts, anchor bolts, T-bolt clips, and other special bolts.
- Railway Anchor
The railway anchor is made of spring steel and adopts an integrated structure, which is used to tightly fix the steel rail at the bottom of the railway to prevent longitudinal movement of the railway caused by temperature changes, slope, traffic mode, and train braking, that is, the railway “crawling”.
The railway anchor is directly installed on the railway base and rests against the sleepers. The railway anchor provides a large bearing surface for the railway base and railway sleepers, preventing cutting and wear, and ultimately extending the service life of the railway sleepers. Anchors are manufactured based on specific railway weight and base width and can be divided into two types: driven railway anchors and spring railway anchors.
- Rail Shoulder
The rail shoulder is cast in the concrete rail ties to fix the elastic rail clips. There are two types of rail shoulders available, the cast-in shoulder and the weld-on rail shoulder, both of which are used for the fixing of elastic rail clips.
- Railway Pad
A railway pad is an elastic polyurethane pad between the steel rail and the rail sleeper, used to protect the top of the rail sleeper from wear and impact.
